About the Medal: "The Belgian version of the Allied Victory Medal was a circular medal of 36 mm in diameter struck with gilded bronze. His obverse bore Winged Victory standing on the top of a partially visible globe, his open arms and outstretched wings, looking downward and holding in his right hand a sword and in his left hand a wreath of laurels. On its lapel, superimposed on a laurel wreath, the arms of the allies, represented clockwise, of the Third French Republic , the United States , the Empire of Japan , the Kingdom of Greece , Brazil , the Serbia , Portugal , the Kingdom of Italy and the United Kingdom , in the center are the small royal arms of Belgium. Along the edge of the medal, the bilingual circular text is engraved in relief, in French "THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION" and in Dutch "DE GROOTE OORLOG TOT DE BESCHAVING". The medal was suspended by a ring with a ribbon of rainbow moiré silk common to the various versions of the allied medal of Victory 1914-1918 of the allied countries." ~wikipedia.
The medal is in exceptional antique condition, exhibiting minimal signs of wear – truly wonderful!
There are no damages or repairs to the medal. It displays some natural bronze patina and has not undergone professional cleaning. I leave this decision to the new owner, having only gently wiped it with a soft jewelry cleaning cloth.
