Victorian Gilt Filled Snake Serpent Buckle Pendant.

Prince Albert proposed to Queen Victoria with a snake ring. It renewed an interest in an already popular design. A Victorian Symbol of Eternal Love. In addition, belt buckles were much used in Victorian jewelry, they were symbols of eternity, fidelity/loyalty, strength and protection.

Besides the normal antique wear, this remarkable snake buckle pendant is in incredible condition. There are no damages or repairs and the details are amazing! This buckle is in the shape of a ribbed textured snake, coiled body and its own tail on one side. There are also traces of blue enamel in the alternating bands between the ribbed textured of the snake's body.

I have gently wiped with soft jewelry cleaning cloth and left a little patina intentionally. It's a lovely pendant, clean and ready to wear or give as a gift!

A brand new antique style swivel dog clip, 12k yellow gold filled, has been attached to this case to easily clip on or off to any chain. The jump rings and the chains attached are brand new 14k gold filled. The swivel dog clip allows this pendant to easily be turned to the other side. This will allow the wearer to interchange the side of the design at any time!

Mark(s): None. Buckle tested 18k gold filled. The dog clip is marked 12k gold filled.

Size Approximately: 3cm (w) x 12.5cm (h), including the swivel dog clip.
