This is a gorgeous Victorian sterling silver locket. It is absolutely wonderful, the bird, probably a swallow, was a symbol that lovers gave to each other, as they mate for life and always go back to their nests. I love the clean design, the simplicity, which gives a timeless elegance to the jewelry.
Besides the normal surface wear, the overall condition is exceptionally impressive. This locket has light superficial scratches, it is in amazing shape with a sturdy and firm hinge and closes securely. This locket opens to reveal two original silver inserts and two clear covers to keep photos securely stored away.
This locket is in excellent antique condition with slight patina. It has not been professionally cleaned. I leave this up to the new owner. I have only gently wiped with soft jewelry cleaning cloth.
