Antique Victorian Serpent Ouroboros Gold Cased Snake Buckle.
Prince Albert proposed to Queen Victoria with a snake ring. It renewed an interest in an already popular design. A Victorian Symbol of Eternal Love. In addition, belt buckles were much used in Victorian jewelry, they were symbols of eternity, fidelity/loyalty, strength and protection.
Besides the normal antique wear, this remarkable snake buckle pendant is in great condition. There are no damages or repairs and the details are amazing! This buckle is in the shape of a snake, coiled body and its own tail on one side. There is wear to the gold plating.
I have gently wiped with soft jewelry cleaning cloth and left a little patina intentionally. It's a lovely pendant, clean and ready to wear or give as a gift!
