The locket is fantastic, offering two different looks, boasting superb Carnelian on both sides, with one side with a layer of paint or some type of overlay.
The lock mechanism works wonderfully. This locket was tested to be sterling silver, it is marked on the top loop. This was a French locket imported to England during the Victorian era. Inside the locket contains 1 of the original covers, the other is missing. It can be replaced easily.
Besides the normal wear, the overall condition is extremely impressive. There are no repairs or damages, except under the loupe, there are a couple of minuscule flea bites on the edge of the stones.
There is a little patina and has not been professionally cleaned. I leave this up to the new owner. I have only gently wiped with soft jewelry cleaning cloth.
