Antique Victorian 800 Niello Silver Checkerboard Pattern Pocket Watch Chain MB40

A fabulous antique niello piece from the Victorian era! Once worn as a pocket watch chain, this wonderful and unusual piece is comprised of a silver and niello. Each link is detailed with wonderful checkerboard Niello design that covers the entire surface. The piece would look lovely hanging from another chain just as shown in photo #10. It's a stunning and unusual piece and would make a great addition to any Niello collection!

This chain came to me without any clasp so I added a dog clip. It is brand new sterling silver and slightly patinaed to match this chain.

Besides the normal wear, the overall condition fantastic. There is normal wear to this chain and surface scratches. There is little loss of the black niello as well as a few links that are not very straight which can be seen in all the photos. The T-bar is extraordinary, it is thicker than most I've ever come across!

There are patina and has not been professionally cleaned. I leave this up to the new owner. I have only gently wiped with soft jewelry cleaning cloth.

*MARKS: None, tested at 800 silver. The brand new dog clip is marked "925".
