This padlock is fabulous, offering two different looks, boasting a Scottish Aberdeen Granite on one side with beautifully 18k gold as the border and a locket compartment with plaited hair inside on the back side.
The lock mechanism works wonderfully. This heart padlock was tested to be 18k solid gold, it is unmarked which is typical. These can be used as fasteners on necklaces or bracelets.
Besides the normal wear, the overall condition is extremely impressive. There are no repairs or damages, except surface scratches. For the sake of accuracy, the gold trim around the back on the heart has minuscule scuffing, possibly from taking out the compartment. I have not try to remove it. There is a little patina and has not been professionally cleaned. I leave this up to the new owner. I have only gently wiped with soft jewelry cleaning cloth.
