This is a magnificent Whitby Jet necklace, made from graduated faceted large pieces of genuine jet. The inside diameter measures approximately 17 inches, with another 3/4 of an inch for the clasp which is really over sized. The clasp and the extender do not appear to be sterling silver.
As for the beads, I am not sure what material they are.
It looks much better in person - I had to really lighten the photos so the small natural imperfections and one area of scratching (near the clasp) could be seen. It is an incredible and dramatic piece, measuring just a bit over 1 1/4 inches or 32.5mms wide at the widest point. A great price on this piece!
These are genuine Whitby jet which is a fossilized material. I do not know how original in style this is as this is how it came to me.
This piece will arrive carefully presented in a gift box.
