As the belt curves around and threads back through the buckle, it creates an "eternal loop"—a promise that the bond between the giver and wearer would never be broken.
Adding to the romance of this piece is the exquisite hand-engraved reverse side featuring Snowdrops. In the Victorian "Language of Flowers," the snowdrop—the first bloom to pierce the winter snow—symbolized hope, rebirth, and consolation. Together, the buckle and the snowdrops make this locket a profound "Love Token" of resilience and lasting devotion.
This museum-quality piece has been preserved remarkably well for 141 years. Fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1879, featuring the Lion Passant, the Anchor, and the date letter "e."
• The front features a high-relief "3D" belt buckle applique. The interior retains its two original sterling silver frames, one with a glass cover and one with a plastic oval cover.
• Excellent antique condition. The hinge is sturdy and firm, closing with a crisp, secure "snap." As an authentic antique, it shows light superficial scratches and two very minor dings to the back which do not detract from its structural integrity. It possesses a beautiful original patina; we have only gently wiped it with a soft cloth to preserve its history.
