1975 Vintage Victorian Style Snake Serpent Ouroboros Hinged Bangle Bracelet

Prince Albert proposed to Queen Victoria with a snake ring. It renewed an interest in an already popular design. A Victorian Symbol of Eternal Love.

This is an elegant and beautifully made wrap around snake bracelet with ruby glass stones on the head. I am not a gemologist, for this reason, I'm stating them as ruby glass but they may be genuine ruby stones. The ruby glass has no chips or cracks, under close inspections, barely scratches. This fantastic hinged bodied snake bracelet has a safety closure at the head and tail.

The width of the bangle is approximately 8/16 of an inch or 7.5cm, and the width of the head is approximately 7/16 of an inch, almost 1.1cm.

The finish is vermeil, and it's marked "Gold Plated on Sterling Silver" the leopard for London, the lion for silver, and the letter "A" for 1975. When this came to me, it was heavy on patina, I did not see any gold plating. After getting it professionally cleaned, it was just sterling silver and I left it hanging on a bracelet stand for a few months. I noticed the natural patina began which had restored the gold plating. How interesting and quite beautifully done!

It is safe to say, if polished more, the gold plating may disappear. I love the natural patina which is shown in all the photos. The yellow gold plating is on the light side. There are surface scratches on the bangle, no damages or repairs.
